One or more of our adult set of teeth can be lost for a number of reasons, from tooth decay to gum disease to trauma.

When teeth are lost there are many aesthetic and functional disasters that can strike at the supporting bone. Long term research has shown that dental implants, have a very high success rate.

To avoid surgical and early implant related complications, the correct planning and sequencing of dental implants is essential. This involves the use of CT scans and computerised planning of intended surgeries.

The Sydney Smile Studio is associated with The Brener Implant Institute that provides Australia’s leading professional implant training program for dentists.

If you have been advised that you do not have enough bone for an implant then it is worth another opinion. We specialise in regenerating lost bone. Once the bone is established dental implants become highly predictable.

FAQs:

Are the procedures painful?

With today’s modern preoperative medical regimes, intravenous sedation or general anaesthesia and excellent post operative medication, any pain and discomfort are minimised, and there is no memory of the surgery.

Over 95% of patients that have undergone bone grafting and implant procedures say that they would not hesitate to undergo the procedures again.

I have been told that I do not have enough bone for an implant?

Modern grafting techniques can regenerate bone, even in the maxillary sinus in a predictable fashion to allow placement of dental implants.

How long does the process take?

For predictable results, full jaws can be done immediately if there is sufficient bone. However if there is not enough bone, or the bone is poor quality, then it can take 6 months to two years for complicated cases.

Will I have holes in my smile all of this time?

You will be presentable during all phases of the treatment. The latest techniques allow excellent temporisation of the surgical sites.

Is the treatment expensive?

If the treatment is amortised over the length of time that 98% of implants last, then it is a relatively inexpensive procedure.

Am I too old to have dental implants?

The average Australian now lives into their 80s. Thus a 65 year old is a relatively young mouth and still has 15 years of smiling and chewing to go.

If your medical history does not exclude the implant procedures then your quality of life can be improved irrespective of age.
